You will find eighteen window types here, from a single fixed pane to a full combination window with several sections. The most common starting points are casement windows for a modern British home, cottage windows and sliding sash windows for a period property, and tilt & turn windows if you want a single handle that both ventilates and opens wide.
If you need one window made up of several sections, that is a combination window, not a triple glazed one. It is worth knowing the difference before you start: triple glazing means three panes of glass in one sealed unit, while a triple window usually means three separate lights in one frame. Pick the type first. Size, glazing, material and colour all come afterwards in the configurator.
Double glazing suits most replacement projects. Triple glazing makes the biggest difference where a room feels draughty, where you can hear the road, or where a large glazed area faces north. The mechanism is simple. A double glazed unit has two panes with one sealed cavity between them. A triple glazed unit has three panes and two cavities, so heat has one more barrier to cross on its way out and sound has one more to cross on its way in.
Triple glazed units are heavier, which is why the frame and the hinges matter as much as the glass. Our frames are built for both, so the same window type can be ordered either way.

Both frames are made from the same slow-grown Nordic pine. The difference is what sits on the outside.
Timber windows are factory painted and ready to fit. The pine we use has a heartwood content of at least 90% and is finger-jointed, which keeps the frame stable. It is treated against decay and finished with a water-based paint, so it arrives protected rather than needing a coat of paint on site.
Alu-clad timber windows have the same pine core with an aluminium shell on the weather side. You get the warmth of wood indoors and a surface outdoors that does not need repainting. That is also why alu-clad carries the longer warranty of the two, at 12 years.
Choose timber if you want a traditional finish and do not mind maintaining it in time. Choose alu-clad if you would rather not think about the outside again.
It means the window is produced in the size you enter, not selected from a range of standard sizes and packed out with trim.
You give the width and the height of the opening, choose the opening direction, and the frame is built to match. That is the whole reason for measuring carefully before you order, and it is why we wrote a guide for it.
Measuring your own openings takes a piece of paper, a pencil and a tape measure. Follow the guide and you will not need anything else.

Building Regulations depend on the opening, not only on the product. Where safety glass is required, or where a window has to serve as a means of escape, you select the options that apply while you design the window. If you are unsure which rules apply to your opening, ask us before you order.

A triple glazed window has three panes of glass inside one sealed unit. A triple window normally means one frame divided into three separate lights, which we call a combination window. You can order a combination window with double or triple glazing, so the two are choices you make separately.
Yes. Timber windows leave our factory already painted with a water-based finish, so they are ready to fit when they arrive. That saves you painting them on site and means the frame is protected from the day it is delivered.
Measuring your own openings is easier than it sounds. All you need is a piece of paper, a pencil and a tape measure. Our guide takes you through it step by step, so you avoid the two mistakes people make most often: measuring the old frame instead of the opening, and measuring in only one place.
Stock items are delivered within two weeks. For made-to-measure windows and doors, the current delivery time for each material shows while you design your product.
If you want delivery later, for example to line it up with a fitter, you can change the expected delivery date in the basket, or email us straight after ordering. If your order mixes stock items with made-to-measure products, the two arrive separately.
